It's not too early to start amassing "Please Vote!" letters to send in October...

Greetings!

On New Year’s Eve, we shared some reflections ([link removed]) on our efforts in 2019, and a preview of our plan for 2020. It is now……2020, and time to put this plan into action.

We’re excited to announce that our first big campaigns of the year are live on the Vote Forward website ([link removed]) . We’d like to encourage you to start adopting voters and writing letters to them, imploring them to vote on November 3, just 295 days from today.

Start adopting voters today ([link removed])

Typically “get out the vote” campaigns start much closer to the election, so this might seem a bit premature. But part of the beauty of our approach is that mail can be stockpiled in a way that phone calls and door knocks can’t. The idea is to bank as many “Please vote!” letters as we can in the months ahead, during the period where other get-out-the-vote tactics aren’t yet possible. Then we'll send them all in a massive wave on October 27th, and transition to knocking on doors in the final weeks before the election.

We now have about 2 million addresses from 10 key states available on Vote Forward’s website. We’ve selected low-propensity historically underrepresented registered voters in these states who we believe are least likely to move. We’ll also be supplementing and adjusting these campaigns as the underlying voter files change in the months ahead, so the slate of voters will always be the best and most accurate version we’re able to present.

The sizes of the campaigns in the various states are roughly proportional to their populations, which means the biggest pools of targets are in Texas and Florida. If you don’t have a strong preference otherwise, we would encourage you to focus your efforts there, but it’s really your choice.

So let’s get started! And THANK YOU as always for all of your efforts. Let’s do everything we can to strengthen American democracy in 2020.

Warm Regards,

Scott & the Vote Forward team

P.S. Signing in is now easier. Although thousands of you participated in Vote Forward’s 2019 campaigns, there are a lot of you who haven’t been active since the 2018 midterms. We hope to see you back in action soon in this most consequential election year, and we’ve made some improvements on the website that should make it easier to get going: 1) It’s easier to change your password ([link removed]) if you can’t remember it. And 2) If you created your account by clicking “Sign up with Google” or “Sign up with Facebook,” and consequently don’t have a password to reset, we’ll automatically remind you how to regain access.

P.P.S. Voter registration campaigns. Some of you participated in our voter registration campaigns in 2019. Thank you for all of your efforts on these! We’re turning our attention to GOTV now because we want to maximize the lead-time for stockpiling these letters, but we’ll be continuing to experiment with voter registration in 2020. Keep an eye out for those campaigns on the website if they’re of interest to you.

P.P.P.S. Post photos of your stacks of stockpiled envelopes on social media! (Make sure the addresses aren’t visible). If you tag us @votefwd or use the hashtag #VoteForward, we’ll amplify your posts. Let’s get this thing trending. Thank you!
