Dear John,
As we enter 2023 and begin a new Congress, I want to take a moment to wish each of you a Happy New Year! I hope you and your families have a blessed 2023 filled with good health.
Over the past seven years, it has been a distinct honor to represent the 18th District of Illinois in Congress, including central and west-central Illinois. I take great pride being the voice of our communities in Washington. With a new Congress starting today, I will begin serving a new Congressional District - the 16th District of Illinois - encompassing much of central and northwestern Illinois.
To those in the 18th District, I want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you and our region's interests in Congress. It has been the honor of a lifetime. I am proud of the things we've accomplished reducing taxes for working families, advocating for law enforcement, returning key federal dollars to our region, and providing high quality constituent services. Please know that I will continue to champion our conservative values, agriculture, small businesses, and workers as my district changes.
To those in the new 16th District, I look forward to hitting the ground running in the months ahead to be your new representative in Washington. Our country faces many challenges, including rising inflation, energy challenges, violent crime, and food and agriculture security. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee and the House Intelligence Committee, I will continue to work in Congress to provide common-sense, conservative solutions to these challenges under our new House Republican Majority.
I am excited for the work ahead and I am committed to providing the same level of high quality constituent service for the 16th District of Illinois as we have over the past seven years. I look forward to seeing many of you on the road and meeting new constituents as we travel and represent the 16th District. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Illinois in Congress.
Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Darin LaHood Member of Congress
