** It doesn't look like everyone was being completely honest about their intentions to wean themselves off of fossil fuels.

Reuters ([link removed]) (1/13/20) reports: "China’s crude oil imports in 2019 surged 9.5% from a year earlier, setting a record for a 17th straight year, as demand growth from new refineries built last year propelled purchases by the world’s biggest importer, data showed on Tuesday. Last year, China imported a record 506 million tonnes of crude oil, according to data from the General Administration of Customs. That is equivalent to 10.12 million barrels per day (bpd), according to Reuters’ calculations based on the data. Chinese crude imports have set records every year since 2003, according to customs data on Refinitiv Eikon. December arrivals were 45.48 million tonnes, customs reported. That is equivalent to 10.71 million bpd, according to Reuters’ calculations, the third-highest ever on a daily basis and down from a record of 11.13 million bpd set in November...Tuesday’s
data also showed China’s refined fuel exports in 2019 rose 14.1% from a year earlier to a record 66.85 million tonnes as refinery throughput outpaced domestic fuel demand growth. December exports were 6.79 million tonnes. China raised the volumes of its first batch of 2020 fuel export quotas by 53% from a year earlier to 27.99 million tonnes."
** "It’s very convenient for alarmist greens to blame the fires of Australia and California on global warming. In reality, the policies they themselves advocate are the culprits."

(1/12/20) letter: "I received a $50 carbon tax on my gas bill. This is not 1 or 2 percent. It is about 15%. It may be legal in that there are no laws protecting Canadians from unreasonable tax hikes, but it’s immoral. In his dictatorial way, what would stop Trudeau from slapping an extra hundred or thousand onto the gas bill? What recourse would we have or do we have? Well, not much except to refuse to pay it. Lets clarify what we are referring to when we speak of C02. Greenhouse gases make up 1% of the atmosphere. Of this 1%, C02 is .04%. It is a trace gas. The purpose of this carbon tax is to reduce C02 emissions. Well, the basic premise that C02 is dangerous is false. That it cause the temperature to rise is false. That Canada produces an appreciable amount is false. That a tax will reduce emissions is false. Canada creates 1.4% of the worlds C02, which in itself is innocuous as a trace gas. Canada has enough trees to absorb C02 created by nature and man 100 times over. Taking our money
because of C02 with the promise that this will prevent climate change is all a sham, a way to dig deep into our pockets and take our money...What can we do to put the reins on our irresponsible government? I’ll tell you what I’m going to do. I’m not going to pay it. I’m not paying the carbon tax. I can’t. It’s immoral. Maybe Trudeau & I need to have a little chat in front of a judge. Bring it on."
Trudeau better watch out, otherwise, Mark is going to have to update this video.

(1/13/20) reports: "Wired Magazine reports that, for several hours last Thursday night, a bad code update erroneously allowed Facebook users to see exactly which accounts were posting to Facebook pages. For example, celebrities, politicians, businesses, and blogs often open a Facebook page that “isn’t tied to an individual profile. The accounts behind those pages are anonymous unless a Page owner opts to make the admins public. But a bug that was live from Thursday evening until Friday morning allowed anyone to easily reveal the accounts running a Page, essentially doxing anyone who posted to one.'...The edit histories of anonymous Facebook pages contained the names and profile pictures of everyone who added to a particular page....The edit history for Greta Thunberg’s page shows that the content has actually been written by her father, Svante Thunberg, and Adarsh Prathap, a climate activist in India who serves as a delegate at the UN’s Climate Change organization...Greta, Inc., still
claiming that Greta, rather than her father or Prathap, has written the content, posted a message on Facebook on Saturday."
