Hey John — It’s Brendan McPhillips here, and I’m hot off the campaign trail in my new role as Helen’s campaign manager.
Here’s the deal, I’m a proud Gritty-loving resident of Philly (go Birds), and I know that this city needs real leadership to truly reach its full potential. I had the honor of first serving as Helen’s campaign manager during her initial run for City Council in 2015. I believe in her because I’ve seen the results in action ever since, and she’s exactly the type of leader we need in our 100th mayor.
If you’re already on board, we could use your support. Will you chip in whatever you can today to support our grassroots campaign?

Still on the fence? Here are a few reasons to support Helen today:
As a longtime community organizer, Helen earned a national reputation (even before coming into elected office) defending communities from gentrification, expanding civil rights protections for immigrants, and leading a massive movement for public education during a state takeover of the Philadelphia public schools.
As a City Councilmember, Helen led one of the most robust anti-poverty, human rights agendas in the nation — bringing more resources to our public schools, helping end poverty-based evictions, establishing historic new labor laws for workers, and she remains one of the city’s most active and tireless champions for everyday Philadelphians like you and me.
As a mom and former public school teacher, Helen won’t stop fighting for our young people and ensuring that this city invests in their boundless potential. Whether she’s mentoring young people in her office, rallying with youth climate justice organizers, or taking on Harrisburg for failing to fund its schools, Helen uses the power of her voice and office to make change.
In the poorest large city in the nation, poverty and inequality on this scale doesn’t happen by accident. That’s why Helen is leading a massive movement to build a municipal agenda that’s inspiring the country.
We can’t rest until every child has a quality public school in their neighborhood, until working Philadelphians have the labor protections they need, until Black, Brown, immigrant and all communities feel they can live and prosper in our city, and until our economy and our environment is geared toward the future and not the past.
Helen’s work has exemplified our core value of centering Philadelphians in every decision, and as Mayor, she’ll continue to strive for a better Philly for all of us.
Our team is a grassroots coalition across all neighborhoods of our city, but we’re up against some career politicians and wealthy opponents with deep pockets. Can you pitch in anything right now to help fuel this work?
