John, January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and we’re raising awareness about these crimes and we would love your help in ending these crimes worldwide.
One truth about human trafficking is just how prevalent it is in industries that many aren’t aware of — like Ghana’s fishing industry, where many young children are forced into brutal and often deadly labor. Many under the age of 10 years old.
Robert* was trafficked to Ghana’s Lake Volta when he was just eight years old, one of 20 children held by one slave owner in the region. It was their job to dive into the deep, dark water to untangle fishing nets. The risk of drowning was constant, and some of the children didn’t survive.
