Dear John,
Blessings on this the first day of the new year; the first day of my retirement from various compensated ministries in the Gamaliel network; and the seventh day of Kwanza, where the value for today is “faith.” Kwanzaa writers define faith this way: “To believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders, and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.” For the past 34 years, you all have taught me about this “faith”—faith in each other, faith in the movement, and faith in the “righteousness and victory of our struggle.” Thanks to all of you for this great gift of faith!
Ana and I have talked about how I will ease out of Gamaliel work and into retirement without too much shock to anyone’s system—especially mine. We have agreed to four things that I will keep my hand in. First, I will be talking with ACTION Ohio leadership to construct an MOU for continued consulting to that organization in 2023. Next, I will be in regular communication with the Training Team Logistics Support person (Mary Lim-Lampe) to assist her in growing into that job. I will remain on the Race and Power Institute steering team, and, finally, I will continue to shepherd the development of the Nun Caucus.
In all the above I will be accountable to Ana for this work. My cell phone and Gamaliel email remain the same.
Please know that I keep all of you in my prayers for your continued good work.
Love and blessings,
Cheryl
