Everyone at NDWA would like to thank you for doing everything you could to make 2022 an impactful year for the domestic worker movement. What did we accomplish together?
In 2022, super supporters like you stepped up and sent over 60,000 messages and made thousands of calls to lawmakers, and attended dozens of virtual and in-person events!
Here are just a handful of the amazing things we accomplished in 2022:
- Celebrating NDWA’s 15th anniversary! On September 16, our members, partners, allies and supporters convened in Washington D.C. and online for a joyful celebration of the strength and leadership of our worker members and the transformative partnerships that made 15 years of impact possible. Then delegates from NDWA Affiliate Organizations and Chapters, Worker Councils and Board of Directors attended the 2022 NDWA National Congress, where they strategized to chart a path forward for our alliance.
- Winning a HISTORIC hearing on the National Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. The hearing was a critical step toward moving the Bill of Rights to the House floor for a vote, and it was a true testimony to the organizing power of the domestic worker movement! NDWA Founder and President Ai-jen Poo testified at the hearing, and our domestic worker leaders were on the Hill rallying our elected leaders to get their support for this important legislation.
- Winning the DC Domestic Workers Bill of Rights! This is a HUGE win for the domestic worker movement, in DC and across the country. The DC Domestic Workers Bill of Rights law will provide domestic workers in DC with much needed protections in the workplace.
- Organizing for unprecedented voter turnout in Georgia. Our WeDiB Georgia team was on the ground in Georgia, making calls, getting people to the polls, and assisting with voter protection efforts for the midterm and runoff elections.
Thank you for using your voice to uplift the needs of domestic workers, and for helping build the care society we all want and deserve. We wouldn’t have been able to accomplish any of this without YOU, our donors and action takers.
With your support, we know we’re going to have an even more successful and impactful 2023.
