I started my career working behind the scenes on campaigns for candidates I believed in. It was important, fulfilling work. I set out to make a difference in people's lives, to strengthen our communities and fight hard for the issues that mattered. I was proud of what we'd done.

But one day, I looked around and realized that it wasn't enough.

That's when I knew I needed to run for office myself. Even though I was raising three daughters - and even though New Hampshire hadn't yet elected a woman governor or a woman U.S. senator - I knew it was time to raise my hand and step up.

People said I couldn't do it - that it was an uphill battle and that I couldn't build a team strong enough to win. But little by little, our team grew bigger, and the crowds at campaign stops across New Hampshire grew larger.

I'll be honest: That first race was tough. And every race since has been tough, too. But time and again, in the face of all the pundits saying the cards are stacked against us, this incredible team of grassroots supporters has proven that yes, we can enact change when we all come together.

I'm ready to keep up the fight - to continue our efforts to expand access to healthcare, protect reproductive rights, advocate for equal pay, and so much more. But I can't do this without you: we've fallen behind on our January fundraising goal, and I'm counting on this team to step up to close our $8,764 gap before midnight tonight.
