Looking back at a fruitful year at Womankind Worldwide

As 2022 has drawn to a close, we’re taking stock of an energising year at Womankind.
I’m sure you don’t need reminding that we’re living through difficult times. From the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued attack on women’s rights and freedom in Afghanistan by the Taliban to the deterioration of legal protections for survivors of violence, women’s rights are being rollbacked at an alarming rate.
But through these crises, feminist movements have been a strong source of hope and a catalyst for change!
Just this past year, our partners across our five focus countries – Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Zimbabwe, and Uganda – have influenced changes in policies, laws, attitudes, and behaviors that tackle gender inequality. They’ve created places of care for women and girls and protected women’s rights, livelihoods, and access to justice.
Here’s a recap of what we accomplished last year, with thanks to your support;
We funded 38 diverse women’s rights organisations across five countries.
Together with partners, we worked on 20 projects that focused on advancing women’s economic rights, strengthening women’s participation and leadership and ending violence against women and girls.
We launched two new flexible funds, the Her Voice Fund and the Movement Strengthening Fund to support partners to set their own their agendas, respond to changes, and have their expertise and experience heard.
We reached 25,203 individuals through our projects with partners and 898,619 were indirectly supported through our work.

Now more than ever, women’s rights organisations and feminist movements must be supported, resourced, and valued. Because it is these movements and organisations that provide a path toward systemic change, healing, justice, and a more equitable world for all.
Now is a season of change. Together we can build our feminist future.
