Dear John,
Firstly, a very Happy New Year to you from all of us here at Best
for Britain!
After over twelve years of Tory government, you’d
be excused for assuming that the next General Election result is a
foregone conclusion and that a changing of the guard in number 10 is
nothing more than a formality.
But you’d be wrong.
We’ve got the results back from our latest landmark research and it
tells us the Labour Party is far more vulnerable than the other polls
suggest.
Recent polls, including ours, have unusually high numbers of people
saying the 'don't know' how they would vote in an election. By looking
a little harder into what undecided voters are likely to do come
election time, we learned that:
- Far more undecided
voters will vote Conservative than Labour
- This would be
enough to swing more than 160 extra seats to the
Tories
- Labour’s majority would amount
to fewer than 60 seats

General Election'
Whilst it still looks likely that this disastrous year of politics
will be enough to hand Keir Starmer the keys to Number 10, our
reliance on a broken winner-takes-all voting system means that if they
don’t take constitutional reform seriously, they’re at risk of
becoming a one-term-government.
In the past year we’ve
heard from people like Ceri, Frank and Sandra who are dealing with
the effects of 12 years of Tory government every day. So far, your
campaigning has helped convince Labour Party members and affiliated
unions to support PR for national elections in the UK.
Sandra, Ceri and Frank can’t wait for an election every time the
system lets them down - they need a voting system that ensures those
with the will to help are the ones that people have chosen.
Sign
our open letter to demand that the Labour Party puts proportional
representation at the heart of their manifesto and fixes our broken
electoral system once and for all.
Regards,
The Best for Britain team
