Hi Friend,

Today is International Day of Friendship and we want to introduce you to some of the amazing best friends we've met all over the world.

Rimas and Maram are 5-year-old cousins and best friends living in Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. Part of the first generation born in the camp, they registered for kindergarten together and go to school together each day.

Anowara and Romayasa met when they arrived at Shamlapur Refugee Camp in Bangladesh. These 9-year-old Rohingya refugees say that because of their bond, they feel stronger now than when they first arrived.

Nandin-Erdene, 5, and Anar, 4, are best friends in Mongolia. They love to play together outside near their newly-opened mobile kindergarten.

Children do not pick where they are born or the circumstances they must face. And yet, despite everything, we're often amazed at how children are able to find the wonder and joy in life.

It's this extraordinary wonder that leads to friendships made in unlikely places. From refugee camps to impoverished communities -- time and time again we see children in the most dire situations find hope in each other.

The more we share the importance of friendship, the more we can help the most vulnerable children grow up in a peaceful world.

Thank you,

Your team at UNICEF USA
