When I first got to Washington in 2009, they told me, “If you want a friend here, get a dog.”
I already had a dog.
What I didn’t have, until he arrived in 2013, was a friend like Cory Booker.
We’re lucky to have him in the Senate, and I'm grateful for moments we shared on the campaign trail.
As many of you know, this morning, Cory suspended his campaign for president.
This is a sad moment: Cory is as true a public servant as you’ll find anywhere, and he made this race more compassionate and optimistic. I look forward to many more years of his inspired leadership.
While some of the most qualified and valuable voices in this race have been cut due to arbitrary debate requirements, others have been allowed on the stage simply by virtue of their bank accounts.
Now, more than ever, we cannot give up our fight.
Our shared values brought Cory and I together in friendship, and I hope those values will inspire you to continue supporting this campaign.
