URGENT: Dogs trapped on volcanic island

Dear Friend,

The volcanic island of Taal in the Philippines has exploded in a cloud of ash and debris—and a PETA Asia emergency rescue team is on the ground, witnessing the disaster firsthand as members provide dogs and other animals put in danger by the disaster with food and veterinary care.

Taal is an isolated island in the Philippines where most of the residents live in severe poverty. For years, PETA Asia has conducted lifesaving clinics there, helping hundreds of malnourished and exhausted horses who were used to ferry tourists up and down the volcano. Today, the destruction caused by this massive eruption is putting the life of every single animal on the island at risk.

While many animals died under inches of ash from the volcano, many others—including dogs and other animals left behind when the island was evacuated—are thought to be trapped there. The team has already helped dozens of dogs and cats affected by the explosion, but the work necessary to reach many others is just beginning.

With so much devastation around them, the scale of the work yet to come may seem daunting, but each team member is committed to doing whatever they can to bring relief to the many dogs, cats, and other animals who are waiting for help.

Thank you for your compassion and for all that you do to support PETA Asia's vital work.
