Hi friend, it’s Joe, campaign manager for Team Sorensen.

I’m writing to ask you to make a contribution to Eric’s campaign before our end-of-year FEC deadline. But first, let me explain why today’s deadline is so important.

Just 53 days ago, Eric was elected with 51.8% of the vote. The outcome was never anything close to a foregone conclusion.

In a district like IL-17, it’s critical we start building grassroots support early. At midnight tonight, we close the books on the final fundraising quarter of 2022. After this deadline, we’ll send our public report to the FEC. How much we report is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Potential challengers will be watching closely: They want to see whether we’re in good enough shape financially to ward off a challenge. With the razor-thin margins in our district, we need a show of strength now to set the stage for our re-election campaign.

  2. The media is paying attention: This is a true swing district and has become a bellwether for Democrats’ standing around the country. If we report a lot of donations, it’ll demonstrate grassroots energy behind our ideas.

  3. Your donations help us grow: These contributions help us increase the reach of our campaign. We use these funds to train volunteers in IL-17 and run digital advertisements highlighting Eric’s work across our community.

Bottom line: The numbers we report tonight are really important – especially because it’s early in our re-election effort. That’s why I’m reaching out to ask for your support.

Will you contribute $5 or more before our midnight deadline? We’re just $2,190 from our quarterly goal, and every donation will go a long way in showing strength on the final public FEC report.

Thank you for everything,

Joe Goldberg
