John, despite Senator Warnock’s victory, not all of the news coming out of Georgia is good for Democrats.
Earlier this year, a court held that Georgia’s congressional maps likely violated the Voting Rights Act, but the maps were allowed to remain in place anyway because of the Supreme Court’s decision. As a result, Georgia voters were forced to vote in an election with manipulated maps – and it could have cost Democrats the House majority.
Even though Raphael Warnock won more than 50% of the statewide vote, congressional Democrats won just 35% of Georgia’s House seats. Considering that Republicans took control of the House of Representatives by a razor-thin margin, fair maps in a state like Georgia could have made the difference.
John, Senator Warnock’s victory has PROVEN that Georgia is a purple state. Georgia’s congressional maps should reflect that.
That’s why the NDRC is fighting across the country to stop Republicans from using map manipulation to gain unearned power in places like Georgia. Will you pitch in now to support all our efforts?
