As we near the end of the year, I'm reflecting on all we accomplished in 2022. We passed the Inflation Reduction Act, a bill that will address the climate crisis, rising medical costs, and more. The Safer Communities Act will take important steps to help reduce gun violence. To bolster U.S. manufacturing and invest in scientific research, we passed the Chips and Science Act. And earlier this month, President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act to protect same-sex and interracial marriages and the year-end spending bill, which includes the Electoral Count Reform act to protect presidential elections from interference like we saw in 2020.
In November, we saw voters across the country come to the ballot box to protect their rights and defend their values. Although Democrats did not retain the majority in the House, the Republicans' majority will be much narrower than pundits predicted.
I've been in the minority before, and it can be challenging. But I am committed to making progress for the people I'm honored to represent.
We'll need everyone in this fight. Will you join us and donate before our upcoming end-of-the-year deadline?
Things will look different in Congress in 2023. The Republicans are dismantling the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, on which I have served for the last four years. Although this is counterproductive and frustrating, my colleagues and I will continue to fight for policies that will protect our planet for our children and grandchildren and generations to come. We will continue to strive for a better future, and it's reassuring to know that you share our vision.
Will you join us today and donate?
Our work is not over. Thank you for standing with me.
