John, it’s time to get your blindfold and start practicing.
On Saturday, organizers from the Chilean feminist collective LASTESIS will lead us in a massive feminist flash mob directly in front of the White House.
Together we will sing Un violador en tu camino (A Rapist in Your Path), a song and dance created by LASTESIS, to point the finger of blame at this administration for its assaults against women and to feel our collective power.
Don’t miss this powerful and cathartic experience, John. RSVP to the march in D.C. this Saturday and help make this the largest feminist flash mob ever.
What began in Santiago, Chile on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, has become a global feminist protest anthem with pop-up performances around the world from Spain, Mexico, India, France, New York and beyond.
If you haven’t seen the videos, we suggest you do. These dance-mobs are incredibly powerful and why we feel so lucky to have LASTESIS joining us on Saturday. Together we will literally point a finger at the White House and sing in unison:
“The rapist is you / The cops, the judges, the state, the president / ... And the fault wasn’t mine / Not where I was, not how I dressed / You are the rapist.”
Here’s what you need to do to get prepared:
-
RSVP to the march on Saturday
- Bring a black blindfold (preferably a see through fabric like lace)
-
Practice the lyrics and dance (we’ll be performing the song in Spanish and English)
- Text ‘Women Rising’ to 40649 to get updates on exactly when the the dance will begin
We’re so excited to see you there,
Vicko Alvarez
