Dear John,
This is the last day for our year-end fundraising drive at Inequality Media—and we’re still $20,000 short of our goal.
I know these are difficult times for many of us. We just experienced the most expensive holiday season in more than 40 years as giant corporations are setting record profits by using inflation as an excuse to jack up prices.
But we will never be able to check the power of monopolistic corporations unless we can reach the American people with the truth about what’s really happening to our economy and democracy, and the solutions that exist to level the playing field.
That’s what Inequality Media was created to do, and our team is working tirelessly to create viral videos and social media explainers to break through the corporate media’s bias and communicate directly with the American people.
Your donation to our end-of-year campaign will help to expand our reach—and the good news is that a generous donor has committed to match every donation before midnight tonight—so the impact of your contributions will be automatically doubled!
While the corporate media is reporting on the fact that food prices are up more than 12% this month, they are leaving out the most important part: A monopoly of corporations are coordinating prices to outpace rising costs, raking in windfall profits.
The reality is, the economy is at least 50% more concentrated now than it was in 2005. And that includes both grocery stores and media outlets.
We started Inequality Media as a nonprofit to fight back against corporate influence and educate the public about what we can do about growing inequality in America, and the monopolization that fuels it. And in 2022 alone, our high-impact content was viewed more than 100 million times!
In 2023, we are going to continue to build our following across essential social media platforms, including Snapchat and TikTok, where more young people are getting their news. We will continue to use cutting-edge techniques for designing and deploying our videos to educate and persuade the full range of audiences, from “very liberal” to “very conservative.” In fact, according to a rigorous study, those who labeled themselves "very conservative" were significantly more likely to identify corporate profits, rather than President Biden, as the driver of inflation after viewing our videos.
To fulfill these ambitious plans, we’ve set an ambitious goal: $100,000 by midnight TONIGHT. And thanks to a generous donor, every single dollar you give will be DOUBLED. So your $10 donation will be $20 for us, $20 will be $40, and so on.
Your support means so much to me and my team. Will you donate to Inequality Media today?
Thank you for being in the trenches with us,
Robert Reich
