Friend,
2022 is almost in the books, but before we say goodbye, I wanted to take a minute and look back on some of the strides Congress made this year, many of which were on a bipartisan basis.
These accomplishments remind us that when we work together, we can improve the lives of every American.
We took significant steps to improve quality of life, reduce healthcare costs, address climate change, protect our kids and communities, uphold our promises to our veterans, and make America more competitive.
This year we:
- Passed the first major gun safety bill in 30 years
- Capped out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000
- Expanded veterans’ benefits
-
Made the biggest investment ever in clean energy
- Put an end to corporate tax evasion
- Strengthened same sex-and interracial marriage
- Jumpstarted American manufacturing and microchip production
Next year a new, divided Congress will begin, but the progress we’ve made didn’t happen by accident.
I’ll keep fighting for our values and find independent, bipartisan solutions to the issues we face that positively impact our communities. I’m hopeful and ready to get back to work for CD-04, Connecticut, and the American people.
Wishing you a happy New Year,
— Jim
