As I'm preparing to celebrate the new year I'm so incredibly grateful to be safe in the UK and have a job with the IRC where I can make a difference for Ukrainian refugees like me.

But I also can't help thinking about my mom, who is currently in Ukraine.

She is still in my hometown of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine. The infrastructure has been destroyed, so right now, my mom only has heat in her home for 2 hours every day — the other 22 hours, she has to find some other way to keep warm.

The IRC is wrapping up our fundraising for the year and it would mean so much to me if you could make a gift to help people like my mom while your gift goes 3x as far.

2022 is the year everything changed for my family. Suddenly, we couldn't count on so many of the basics we had all our lives: turning on a light switch, being with family for the holidays, safety from guns and bombs.

Saying it's been hard is an understatement. But I have also been encouraged to find out there is something new that I can count on now: the support of people like you.
