In 2022, this movement achieved key victories, including:

• Canadian mining company Belo Sun was blocked from building what would have been the largest open-pit gold mine in Brazil, right in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon.
   
• The opening of Casa de Mujeres Amazónicas, a house designed and run by Indigenous women defenders of the Amazon to support their safety, healing, organizing, and collective economies.
   
• A yearlong moratorium on all new oil and mining secured by Ecuador’s Indigenous movement, setting the stage for their goal to end all current and new oil and mining in the country.
