Dear Friend of IDP:
A few weeks ago, we s ([link removed]) hared the story of Richard ([link removed]) , ([link removed]) a young man at the intersection of an entrenched immigration system and increasingly punitive criminal justice policies. Despite being eligible for special visa protections, Richard remains in an immigration detention facility.
The major law firm that had been helping Richard obtain legal permanent status in the United States reached out to our hotline for help.

During this year alone, we have answered more than 900 hotline calls. Our team provides personalized support to:
* Immigrants navigating racist and unjust systems that are not set up for their success
* Attorneys unable to lift the veil of mystery on ever-changing immigration policies
* Concerned family and friends in crisis who have witnessed or fear their loved ones cruelly and aggressively taken away
Each person that calls, regardless of who they are, or the exact issues at hand, is met with a nonjudgmental ear.
As we enter 2023, it is critical that we deepen our commitment to helping families stay together and standing up for those impacted by the unjust and racist criminal legal and immigration systems.
