In a moment, we’re going to ask you to give to help Democrat Amy McGrath defeat Mitch McConnell this November, but before we do, please let us explain why your gift is so important right now.
Last quarter, Amy McGrath raised more than $6 million. That’s an enormous amount for a Senate campaign – but more importantly, it’s also more than Mitch McConnell has ever raised in a single quarter in his 35 years of being in office.
While it’s true that the person with the most money doesn’t always win, it’s also true that you can lose if you don’t have enough resources to compete. Mitch McConnell has NEVER been outspent in a reelection race before – but this year, we have a chance to outspend him and outspend him in a huge way.
That’s important because McConnell has never been more vulnerable. The most recent polls show that Amy is in a statistical tie with Mitch, Nate Silver is saying that he absolutely believes that Amy can win, and McConnell’s popularity is at historic lows in his home state of Kentucky.
We can do this, folks. We CAN defeat Mitch McConnell and take back the Senate. But Mitch is already calling and emailing all of his special interest donors and billionaire friends begging for them to bail him out by writing huge checks to his campaign and his Super PACs.
We’ve got McConnell on the ropes, but we cannot stop or let up. It’s time to double down on what we’ve already accomplished and ensure we send McConnell packing in November.
And so here’s the ask we promised at the beginning of this email: We’ve set a goal of getting 10,000 election year donors in order to start 2020 off with the momentum and the resources we’re going to need to defeat the most powerful man in Washington. Unfortunately, right now, we’re still 3,793 donors short.
This race is ours for the taking – but only if we continue to build this grassroots movement with people-powered momentum.
