Last year at this time, it was the calm before a storm. The Supreme Court had just heard oral arguments but not yet issued opinions in cases about taxing citizens to fund Christian schools and overturning Roe v. Wade. The Court had not yet accepted the case of the praying public school football coach, whom AU’s legal team litigated against brilliantly. Nor had the Court heard argument in the case that eventually forced Boston City Hall to fly the Christian flag.

Those cases culminated in the most destructive term for church-state separation in generations and emboldened a billion-dollar shadow network of Christian nationalists who are working overtime to impose their narrow religious views on us all.
