When cholera re-emerged in Haiti and began to spread, PIH’s teams responsible for making sure health care didn’t stop were already in emergency mode. We were hard at work finding creative solutions to keep all 17 of our hospitals and clinics open even amid precipitous increases in political instability and gang violence.
This outbreak could have been the final blow that broke the health care system in Haiti. Instead, this community of PIHers responded with intense effort, supported by astonishing generosity and we were able to keep our care-delivery programs going, even as we opened cholera treatment units, organized an ongoing supply airlift, and began a mass vaccination campaign.
Together our impact has expanded. But global economic spasms have added further pressure to the health of our patients and our operations (the price of food and fuel has skyrocketed this year, especially in the already-impoverished communities we serve).
Put plainly, our global care delivery budget is now being pushed to the brink.
I’m asking you to contribute whatever you can before midnight, tonight. This 3X match is such an important opportunity, and we must make the most of it, together.

Thank you for being a part of this team. The work you make possible has never been more impactful or necessary than it is right now.
In gratitude,
