Swiss company, Solway Investment Group, mining with human rights violations, corruption and impunity in Guatemala
Despite a court ordered suspension of its nickel mining operation - due to a lack of consultation with the Mayan Q’eqchi’ people in the mining harmed communities of El Estor, Guatemala - Switzerland’s Solway Investment Group and CGN (its local subsidiary) continue to illegally operate their mine. Human rights violations, including ‘criminalizations’ of Mayan Q’eqchi’ community defenders, continue unabated.

Meanwhile, a trial continues in Guatemala for the alleged murder of 3 university students on Solway/CGN property by company employees.
Meanwhile, a landmark trial continues in Canada against CGN and its then owner Hudbay Minerals for the killing of community defender Adolfo Ich.
