Dear John,

2022 has been a groundbreaking year for the MPAC Hollywood Bureau. But before I get into that, I want to share some exciting news with you: With 2023 just around the corner, a generous donor has pledged $20,000 in matching funds– but only through the end of the year. Donate now to support our work and double your impact.

This year, the MPAC Hollywood Bureau continued developing Muslim talent in Hollywood, representing our communities at festivals, consulting for some of the largest entertainment companies in the world, and to boot, we produced our very own documentary. Your support made our continued pursuit of our mission of changing narratives around Islam and Muslims possible.

Here’s a quick look at a few of our accomplishments from this year:
* The MPAC Hollywood Bureau produced its third original work, The Healer, a short documentary that shares the story of an American Muslim doctor providing care for her rural community throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic. We worked with some of the community’s most talented creatives in Hollywood, including Director Justin Mashouf, Editors Ayser Salman and Imran J. Khan, and more. The documentary is now a central piece of MPAC’s Mustard Seed Project, and is a phenomenal tool to win the hearts and minds of those who have been fed Islamophobia and misinformation about Islam.
* We continued to provide American Muslim representation and consultation in Hollywood, working with Warner Bros. Discovery, 20th Century Studios, Netflix, and more.
* The Hollywood Bureau was proud to collaborate with Warner Bros. Discovery on its second annual Bootcamp for emerging creatives, helping propel the careers of the next generation of American Muslims pursuing their dreams in Hollywood.
* In collaboration with Disney Television Animation, we held a networking mixer for American Muslim young professionals seeking to build a career in animation, with over 50 creatives participating.
* We continued to offer our thought leadership to the entertainment community by organizing panels at prestigious festivals, including Sundance Film Festival and ATX TV Festival.
* In partnership with CAA Foundation’s Full Story Initiative and Film Independent, the MPAC Hollywood Bureau was able to provide two $10K grants: to Malik Aziz, from our Black Muslim Filmmaker Grant, and to Sarah Mokh, from the Feature Film Grant at Film Independent.

In Peace,

Sue Obeidi
