Friend,

The right to vote is the cornerstone of America's democracy -- but millions of Americans lose that right as a result of sinister Republican plots.

Democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to protect voting rights for all Americans, except when the discussion of felon disenfranchisement comes up.

We can't deny people who have served their time, pay their taxes, and provide for their families the right to vote. While some Democrats are scared of the political optics, the right to vote is far too important to deny to anyone deserving of this privilege.

As the only progressive running against Joni Ernst, I'm not afraid of standing up for what's right by giving every eligible citizen the right to have a voice in our democracy. If you agree, sign my petition.

In the state of Iowa, former convicted felons must go through a lengthy court petition process to restore their voting rights -- meaning the fate of their constitutional rights rests in the hands of the justice system.

And the reality is, our criminal justice system is deeply flawed.

Institutional biases punish non-white Americans harsher, leading to minorities receiving felony sentencing. So, when states choose to blanket ban rehabilitated Americans, we're allowing this racial bias to expand even further.

Let's not leave restoration of rights in the hands of the current justice system. It's on us to stand up and fight for every eligible American's right to vote.

If you agree with me, sign my petition and tell Joni that we must restore the right to vote. I'm not scared to fight for justice for all, and you shouldn't be either.
