The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is responsible for protecting waterways and communities from factory farm pollution. But for decades it has failed to effectively regulate this dangerous waste. In fact, most factory farms have escaped Clean Water Act regulation altogether.
Five years after we called on the EPA to strengthen water pollution regulations for factory farms, the agency still hasn't acted. Meanwhile, communities continue to suffer and pollution piles up — wreaking havoc on the environment and ecosystems, polluting public waterways, contaminating drinking water sources and jeopardizing public health.
In 2023 we’ll be continuing our fights to demand that the EPA strengthen its nationwide Clean Water Act regulations and finally rein in factory farm's dirty operations and hold them to strict pollution standards.
