A.G. HOLDER:
“We’ve seen extreme Republicans go to great lengths to manipulate maps and overturn election results. Now they are asking the Supreme Court to give unchecked power to state legislatures -- including those that remain heavily gerrymandered.”
Next year, the Supreme Court will decide Moore v. Harper . The case will directly impact the congressional map in North Carolina -- but extreme Republicans are already scheming how to leverage the Independent State Legislature (ISL) theory to further their anti-democracy agenda.
What do you want 2023 to look like?
PRO-DEMOCRACY
🗳 A fair and competitive congressional map in states like North Carolina
🗳 Voters advocating for redistricting reforms
🗳 State legislatures protecting and expanding access to voting
ANTI-DEMOCRACY
⚠️ Another decade of a gerrymandered maps like in North Carolina
⚠️ Extremists using ISL theory to challenge commission-drawn maps
⚠️ Gerrymandered state legislatures unilaterally restricting voting rights and installing election deniers to run federal elections

In the Moore v. Harper oral argument, the lawyer representing the North Carolina voters said: “The blast radius from their theory would sow elections chaos.”
Regardless of the SCOTUS decision, we need to be prepared. ISL theory, if adopted, might let extremists cause chaos. But even if SCOTUS knocks down this anti-democratic theory, we know that extremists will continue their more insidious tactics to undermine democracy.
Help us build -- and protect -- a more pro-democracy future. Chip in toward our end-of-year goal to raise $23,000 by 2023. [[link removed]]
