Let's Deliver More Victories (and Results) in the New Year |
2022 was quite the year for us.
Together, we reelected U.S. Senator Todd Young by a commanding 20-point margin, swept the auditor of state, secretary of state, and treasurer of state races, maintained our supermajorities in the general assembly, and grew our support at the county level. With these results, we continue to hold both U.S. Senate seats, seven U.S. House seats, and nearly 90 percent of all county-elected offices. These electoral victories are a strong endorsement of the results Republicans have delivered, and will continue to deliver, for all Hoosiers. Next year, we'll have the opportunity to do this again, delivering more victories and results in cities and towns across the state. In 2019, together, we won a record number of mayoral seats, flipping 19 and picking up offices in former Democrat strongholds like Muncie, Kokomo, and Logansport. Today, there are 71 Republican mayors serving in Indiana — 23 more than the Democrats. That's a number we're proud of, and a number we intend to not just hold, but expand upon in 2023. And with you're help, we'll do just that.
Enjoy this week's newsletter and share it with a friend. Sincerely, |
Chairman Kyle Hupfer P.S. From all of us at the Indiana Republican Party: We hope the new year will bless you with joy and prosperity. |

ICYMI: A New Appellate Judge |

Governor Eric Holcomb poses with Judge Dana Kenworthy after he announced her appointment to the Indiana Court of Appeals. |
Last Wednesday, Governor Holcomb announced that he had selected Grant County Superior Court Judge Dana Kenworthy as the next member of the Indiana Court of Appeals. Kenworthy will replace Justice Derek R. Molter who was appointed to the Indiana Supreme Court.
“Judge Kenworthy is one of the sharpest legal minds in our state which is what brought her to the courtroom, but it’s her passion for children and families that has kept her there. The Indiana appellate court will benefit from her critical thinking skills, problem-solving technique, reasoned decision-making and her sense of justice.”
— Gov. Holcomb
Judge Kenworthy was appointed to Grant County Superior Court 2 in 2010. Before serving as a judge, Kenworthy worked as a Grant County deputy prosecutor for 10 years where she focused on cases involving child abuse, sexual assault, juvenile delinquency and domestic violence.
During her time as a judge in Grant County, she founded one of the earliest Family Recovery Courts in Indiana, which applies the problem-solving court model to help the highest need and highest risk families remain intact. In six years, the Grant County Family Recovery Court has been nationally recognized as a gold standard. Judge Kenworthy has had 41 participants graduate from the program.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected by Gov. Holcomb, and immensely grateful to friends and colleagues who offered support throughout the selection process,” said Judge Dana Kenworthy. “It is a rare privilege to serve on the Indiana Court of Appeals, and I will work hard every day to be worthy of the position.” |

ICYMI: Indiana 8th Highest Income Growth |
According to a recent Census Bureau report, Indiana has experienced the 8th highest income growth in the nation since 2019, outpacing every state we border and nearly all of the Midwest.
From CNBC:
Income growth in the U.S. was largely flat in 2021, but a handful of states made significant gains, according to the latest Census Bureau data.
Overall, median household income nudged up only slightly since 2019, from $69,639 to $69,717, as measured in 2021 inflation-adjusted dollars. Data from 2020 was omitted from the report, partly because of disrupted data collection during the pandemic.
In terms of income growth, 27 states and D.C. either declined or essentially went unchanged since 2019.
But in 25 states and territories, incomes are increasing. |
Fox News: Southwest meltdown: Buttigieg said in September airline issues would 'get better' by holidays |
The failed mayor, presidential candidate, and secretary of transportation strikes again. From Fox News: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is being ripped for his response to the airline meltdown that left thousands of people stranded on Christmas after he assured Americans just months ago that ongoing air travel issues would improve before the holidays. During a September appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," Buttigieg said he was increasing pressure on U.S. airlines after travelers experienced an expensive and chaotic summer. "I think it's gonna get better by the holidays," the transportation secretary said at the time. "We’re really pressing the airlines to deliver better service. So many people have been delayed, been canceled, it happened to me several times this summer. And the fact is they need to be ready to service the tickets that they're selling." Story continues. |
Applications Open for 2023 Indiana Republican Diversity Leadership Class |
Applications to join the 2023 class of the Indiana Republican Diversity Leadership Series are now open!
The Indiana Republican Diversity Leadership Series (IRDLS) is a seminar and leadership training program that provides the preparation and resources needed to increase the engagement of minority Republican leaders across Indiana. The program is open to Hoosiers of all backgrounds and all ages as we work to bring more historically under-represented communities into civic leadership. Members of the series build their personal network, meet with state leaders, and receive mentorship while developing additional avenues to become civically engaged in Indiana.
The series involves monthly classes, which cover topics such as inclusive language, authentic communications, diversity and civic engagement, multicultural messaging, local and state policy, and much more. The class concludes with a group capstone project and a trip to Washington, D.C. The series is the first among state Republican parties and has been described by the RNC as a “prime example” of Republican efforts to prioritize minority engagement, grow the party, connect with voters, and elevate leaders.
