Friend — this is bad. Trump has just extended the position for William Pendley — the temporary head of the Bureau of Land Management — who'd famously argued to "sell all BLM lands E. of the Mississippi."
He's an adamant climate change denier, and has referred to undocumented immigrants as "a cancer."
A few months back, LCV members stepped up in a big way to fight his initial nomination. It's been working — the Trump administration has never put Pendley up for the permanent role. But now they're trying to extend his tenure at BLM — without an official nomination or congressional approval.
We have to stop this guy — but we need to organize NOW. And that means we need you. A major donor has agreed to contribute $500,000 to fund key environmental campaigns like this one — IF 10,000 LCV members pitch in first.
We're asking every LCV member for help. If everyone reading this right now pitched in — even $5 — we'd
blow through that goal in minutes.

Friend — in reaching that goal, small donations count the same as big ones. Renewing your membership for just $5 could make the difference between funding some major environmental campaigns this year, or totally scaling back.
AND, if you make a donation of $35 or more, you'll get your choice of one of these awesome t-shirts to show your environmental pride:
I hope we can count on your support, friend. Before Pendley took over as acting head of BLM, he attacked BLM publicly, and repeatedly sided with oil and gas companies to advocate selling off public lands.
Removing Pendley from office is a big fight, but it's one we can't lose. Protecting sacred lands like the Grand Canyon and Bears Ears from mining or oil drilling is just too important.
We can't let this anti-public lands extremist lead the very federal agency in charge of protecting public lands.
We have to move quickly, though. The League of Conservation Voters is preparing to organize against William Pendley becoming the permanent head of BLM — by ratcheting up the pressure on swing state senators, organizing activists around the country, and flooding Congress with calls and letters.
But we can't pull this off without you, friend.

Thank you for stepping up when we need you the most.
Sincerely,
