As 2022 fades away and 2023 dawns bright, I’m feeling more hopeful than I have in years about the direction of Colorado and our nation.

We have big fights and tough challenges ahead of us, but I know we can rise to meet those because we’ve done it before. After all, the odds were stacked against us in 2022, and we defied them again and again.

When nobody believed Democrats could defend the Senate, we held every seat, flipped Pennsylvania, and expanded our majority.

When pundits called my opponent’s campaign the “best” Republican campaign in the country and said Colorado could flip red, we won our race by 14% and were the first Senate battleground Democrats claimed on election night.

After years of relentless organizing, we finally established Camp Hale as a national monument and protected more than 50,000 acres of Colorado’s public land.

We helped Ukraine stand strong against Vladimir Putin, confirmed the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, and continued undoing years of chaos and mismanagement by the Trump administration.

And when it seemed as if partisan gridlock would block any forward progress in the Senate, we passed bipartisan gun safety measures, protected marriage equality, lowered prescription drug costs, and secured historic investments to fight climate change.

2022 was a year of unforgettable progress for America, and we should celebrate all the things we achieved together.
