John —
My name is Steve Kerr. You might know me as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, but that’s not why I’m writing to you today. Instead, I'm about to share my story with you and explain why your gift to Brady right now could not be more important.
Before I was an NBA championship coach, before I was a player, I was just a young man working hard to make my dreams come true. But nearly 39 years ago, my life was shattered when my father was shot and killed outside his office.
That was the moment I realized no one is immune to gun violence until we all are — gun violence has always been personal to me, but after this summer’s shooting in Uvalde, TX, I found myself more enraged than ever wondering when we will finally do something to stop this epidemic. Because we have a right to live without constant fear of gun violence, yet it persists – that’s why I work with Brady, led by survivors like me, to continue to fight and it's why I'm reaching out today: The only way we are going to accomplish lifesaving action is with your support.
Brady works every single day to loosen the gun lobby's chokehold on our lives and stop gun violence from claiming any more of our friends, family, and neighbors. But it's not easy and Brady is fully relying on grassroots supporters like you to make tangible change in this country.
That's why the end of this year is especially critical: With all gifts matched, you can make your biggest impact of the entire YEAR to power Brady's life-saving work and finally defeat the NRA. Brady set a huge goal of $150,000 — and every single grassroots dollar they raise will be TRIPLED. But we have one day to get there, and if we fall short, the NRA won't hesitate to kick us while we're down. Please, will you donate RIGHT NOW to defeat the NRA and save lives from gun violence?
I can’t emphasize this enough: If we’re going to move forward with Brady’s plan for gun safety reform, we need to join forces to overcome Mitch McConnell and the NRA. Together, we’re unstoppable, and I hope you’ll join me in this fight to take action on gun violence, John.
