We’re ready to fight tooth and nail if it means preserving the power of voters.

Team, it’s hard to believe that we’re just two days away from 2023.

With so little time until 2022 wraps, I wanted to speak with you today about what’s at stake in the year ahead. As the Fairness Project’s Campaigns Director, I’m clued into any whispers of extremist officials trying to suppress the power of voters. When we hear these whispers, we get ready to fight back.

Our Ballot Measure Rescue Campaign is a $5 million effort to protect the power of direct democracy. Can you rush a donation now towards our End-of-Year goal to help us fight back against any attacks on the ballot box? >>

Once the new year begins, states will pick back up with their next legislative sessions. And one thing is certain: As we continue to make progress with ballot measures across the country, extremist officials will come after the power of your vote.

I’ve seen it firsthand: There is a direct link between voters winning the progressive policies they need and then extremist state legislatures taking punitive measures to weaken the power of ballot measures or make them harder to pass altogether.

→ In Mississippi, a marijuana ballot measure was passed by voters, then the state's supreme court revoked the power of ballot measures altogether.
→ In South Dakota, we put Medicaid expansion on the November ballot, so extremist officials introduced a measure that would have raised the approval threshold to a 60% supermajority.
→ Now, after wins to protect abortion in Michigan and Vermont, extremists in Ohio are introducing the very same 60% approval measure to try and block progress like protecting abortion.

We have the campaign strategy to defend direct democracy, and we know we can win. Will you power our Ballot Measure Rescue Campaign into 2023 with a donation towards our End-of-Year goal, friend?
