2022 in Review: Building, Deepening, and Growth

Although 2022 has been tumultuous in many ways, it has been a year of steadfast building, deepening, and growth – for social movements, and for us as a movement support organization.

In this blog are some highlights that stand out for us as we look back over the year. We’re grateful to our community of supporters for your critical part in these – and in all of the work, since it truly takes #EachOneOfUs. Happy holidays, and here’s to greater strides toward justice and transformation in the year ahead

After Elections, MST Will Keep Up the Struggle

In its commitment to social and ecological transformation, our Brazilian partner the MST is clear that the organizing must continue regardless of the administration in place.

Make Your Birthday Count for Justice

In lieu of gifts, Barry raised $6,400 for global justice from loved ones on his birthday, "a much larger donation to Grassroots than I could have made alone… the response made me feel really loved and connected!”

Human Rights Day 2022: Struggle, Resistance, and Healing

For Human Rights Day, we focused on how communities are engaged in collective healing in their struggles against human rights abuses. These efforts are exemplified by the grantees of the Martín-Baró Initiative for Wellbeing and Human Rights (MBI) at Grassroots International.

Why Do You Support Grassroots International?

For our #EachOneOfUs campaign, we asked you to share why you support Grassroots. In this video, hear what donors like you have to say! And thank you for sharing such moving words!

FINAL CALL — Raise $1.5 Million for Global Movements by December 31!

In November, we launched our #EachOneOfUs year-end campaign to raise $1 million for social movements. We are so grateful for the response we’ve received… so much so we blasted past our initial goal and are now shooting for $1.5 million in support for movements.

This support has a major impact in making change. In the words of Massa Kone, from the Global Convergence of Land and Water Struggles - West Africa:

“Grassroots has been one of the engines that has helped us keep running, which helped build the Convergence. Today, thanks to this support from Grassroots, we are really managing to achieve victories.”

Would you make a donation and support movements like the Convergence in defending land, water, human rights, and the climate? We have until 11:59 PM on December 31!!
