Team,

Starting tonight, 20 candidates will take the stage in Detroit for the second Democratic Presidential Debates! As governor and a lifelong Michigander, I’m thrilled to welcome them.

Ahead of the candidates taking the stage, I’ve hosted many of them at events across Michigan where they’ve shared their ideas and plans for our country. Now, I’d like to hear from you. What issues should the candidates highlight on stage this week?

We’ve talked about the importance of expanding access to health care, funding quality public education, and ensuring that everyone has a path to a good-paying job – plus, infrastructure and how we #FTDR, or as we say in Michigan: fix the damn road!

Now we have the chance to ensure that these issues are discussed on the debate stage for the whole country to see. Instead of hoping that presidential candidates talk about the issues that matter to us, let’s weigh in. What should the candidates be talking about? What do you want to hear? Take a moment and share your priorities with me and the DGA.

We can’t let this moment pass us by – not after we’ve seen what a Trump presidency looks like.

I’m counting on you to speak out, Team.

Thank you,

Gretchen Whitmer
Governor of Michigan
