Time. Flies. That’s a theme of 2022. As the year comes to a close, we
wanted to send you a selection of 5 (of many!) awesome things that we
accomplished together in 2022 to brighten your day — and to build your
hope for what we can accomplish together in 2023. Please spend a few

1. MAJOR VICTORIES FOR PREGNANT AND BREASTFEEDING WORKERS
The country’s moms and families won major, meaningful, long overdue
victories when the U.S. Senate included the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act
and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act in the FY23 budget bill and the bill
was PASSED! When President Biden signs these two essential measures into
law, breastfeeding moms will no longer be forced to pump breastmilk in
bathrooms, cars, closets and cafeterias; and fewer pregnant workers will
be forced out of their jobs because employers deny them reasonable
accommodations like carrying water bottles and taking more bathroom
breaks. Both these measures will especially help low-income women and
women of color, and they will make America’s moms and families more
healthy and economically secure.

2. MASSIVE MOMSVOTE MOMENTUM
When democracy needed it most, MomsRising supporters like you stepped up
in a MASSIVE way to get out the Mom Vote for the 2022 midterm elections –
including handwriting nearly a million postcards to give moms who are
infrequent voters the information they need, getting out more than 6.2
million calls and texts to help people vote, and so much more. You defied
all the expectations and predictions, CRUSHING records for volunteering,
reach and turnout.
The most impressive stat -- over 64,000 volunteers helped to get out the
vote and made it happen -- writing postcards, sending texts, making phone
calls and running kid-friendly Treasure Boxes near polling places in
states like New Hampshire, North Carolina and Pennsylvania to help moms
get the information they needed to vote.
We are proud of our work together with you and know that it’s also
building long-term voters and a movement for change.

3. INFLATION REDUCTION ACT: LIFESAVING HEALTH COVERAGE WINS
We're also very proud of the work that you and other MomsRising members
did to help the Inflation Reduction Act become law this August. It will
make significant, overdue progress to reduce the cost of health coverage
and prescription drugs for some and help address the climate emergency,
paid for by finally starting to make mega corporations pay a fairer share
of taxes.
In particular, moms applaud the provisions that:
* Prevent more than 3 million people from becoming uninsured next year
by making health plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
marketplace more affordable
* Rein in some of Big Pharma’s price gouging on medications
* Reduce the cost of insulin for Medicare beneficiaries
* Cap the cost of prescription drugs for seniors with Medicare Part D
It will make a lifesaving difference to so many families in America.

4. SOLVING THE FORMULA SHORTAGE
MomsRising led the call to solve the scary baby formula shortage this
spring. We started the rapid response campaign with an April Instagram
live with the National WIC Association, sparking a flood of national media
attention. In the weeks that followed, Congress, partners and parents
turned to MomsRising for trustworthy information and updates, and
MomsRising members successfully pressed the Biden Administration into
actions that restored the formula supply.

3. ONE HUNDRED SIXTY SEVEN LEADERS UNLEASHED
Your generosity unleashed the extraordinary power of 167 rock star
volunteer leaders – our biggest annual class EVER – who completed
MomsRising leadership training. These rising advocates spent months
learning how to accelerate their power building; use organizing and
advocacy tools; and engage lawmakers at local, state and national levels
from local communities across our nation for years to come.
