# [#]2022 was a big year — and as we head towards 2023 I am thankful for the volunteers, donors, and community members who stepped up and supported Democrats up and down the ballot. A huge thanks to every candidate — win or lose — who put their name on the ballot this year. Thank you for standing up for our values and our party.
It was great to travel our state supporting candidates and local party organizations. I had the pleasure of visiting the Cowlitz, Spokane, Mason, Clark, Skamania, and Whatcom County Democrats. We rallied, knocked on doors, and raised thousands of dollars for candidates and Democratic organizations.
Here are some of the highlights:
* A big focus was Southwest Washington. I first met Marie Gluesenkamp Perez when she was running for Skamania PUD commissioner in 2018 — I still have her button from that campaign! I made multiple trips to speak at events supporting Marie. My daughter even made buttons that we auctioned off (My favorite: “Annoy Trump, Vote Marie”)! Flipping the 3rd Congressional District is a huge win for our state and country.

* In Spokane, I supported local candidates, spoke at the Spokane Regional Labor Council’s Labor Rally and joined Natasha Hill at an event for her campaign for Congress. Natasha brought passion and energy to her campaign — and gave Cathy McMorris Rodgers a real challenge.
* The weekend before Election Day, I drove up to Bellingham to support Senator-Elect Sharon Shewmake. On the drive, I thought to myself — how many people are going to turn out on a cold weekend in November? I arrived to find a packed tent full of volunteers and supporters. Thanks to the numerous volunteers that helped elect Sharon Shewmake, Alicia Rule, and Joe Timmons in the 42nd District. The following day, I was in Bremerton to help rally volunteers supporting State Senator Emily Randall. Check out the pictures below!

* State Senator Yasmin Trudeau is a rising star in our party. I know her well — she worked as my Legislative Director in the Office of the Attorney General. I was excited to support her first campaign for the 27th District. The State Legislature plays an important role — we must work to ensure we have strong, progressive legislators who will advance our shared values. It was an honor to attend events for Yasmin and other legislative candidates this year.
* Last, but not least, thanks to your support we raised thousands of dollars for Democratic candidates and causes. Here are a few examples: At my South Sound Dinner, we raised over $15,000 for the House Democratic Campaign Committee & Washington Senate Democratic Campaign — two organizations that play an instrumental role in protecting and growing our Democratic majority. I utilized my surplus funds account to be a leading $5,000 sponsor of Fighting for the Majority — an important organization that supports LGBTQ+ civil rights and progressive candidates — and contributed $5,000 to the Clark County Democrats for their GOTV efforts in Southwest Washington. And we raised thousands of dollars over email to re-elect Congresswoman Kim Schrier. I had a particular interest in that race because Kim’s opponent ran against me for Attorney General in 2020.
I am grateful to everyone who put their name on the ballot, knocked on doors, donated their hard-earned dollars, and fought for progressive values.
Thanks for all you do — Happy New Year!
Bob
