3M Claims They Will Stop PFAS Production in 2025

3M recently announced it will stop manufacturing toxic PFAS chemicals by the end of 2025. At EWG, we think it’s too little too late.

3M has known for more than 50 years that PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” are linked to suppressed immune function, reduced vaccine effectiveness and elevated risk of cancer. As if that weren’t enough, these chemicals do not break down.

Because of manufacturers like 3M:

•	There are more than 42,000 potential sources of PFAS contamination.
•	200 million Americans could have PFAS-contaminated drinking water.
•	PFAS can be found in the blood of 99% of Americans today.

This year the EPA designated two infamous PFAS chemicals as hazardous substances, jump-starting the PFAS cleanup process and scaring manufacturers like 3M. This happened because of you and your advocacy.
