John, I was scrolling through old pictures, and I couldn't help but feel so grateful.
Before I deep dive into one of the hardest and most amazing years of my life, I want to thank you for standing alongside me through it all.
But I don't want you to get comfortable, there's still hurdles to overcome, the first being our End of Year Fundraising Goal. My team and I are working on big things for 2023, but I'd be lying if I said we could do it alone. With only $3,228 till we make it, will you pitch it what you can? [[link removed]]

❄️ Winter ❄️
We started this year off strong, with endorsements from progressive organizations like United Neighbors of the 35th Ward, Emily's List, and Congressman Jesus Chuy Garcia!
And on a cold, windy day in March, I filed my petition signatures, and signed my candidacy statement! I remember coming home and seeing my nieces, their beautiful faces, and knowing that I made the right decision.

🌼 Spring 🌼
Later in the year, our campaign sprung forward as we were endorsed by US Senator Elizabeth Warren, SEIU Local 73, Illinois Education Association, and United Working Families.
While we were still canvassing in the winter, the warmer weather allowed us even more opportunities to get out and meet people all across the district.

☀️ Summer ☀️
We kicked off the summer by celebrating my birthday! One of the most memorable birthdays I've ever had, I was surrounded by people who supported me and all the things I wanted to do to make our communities better places to live.
But the rest of the summer was busy, busy, busy! Me and my teams were out and about as much as possible. We knocked on thousands of doors, made thousands of phone calls, met some of the most incredible people all across the district and told them about all the work I was doing for our district.
Oh, and I can't forget to mention that our campaign continued to blow up, as I was endorsed by US Senator Bernie Sanders!

🍂 Fall 🍂
Fall was a mad dash to the finish line, as my team, our volunteers, and I went out weekend after weekend. We were working day and night to help as many people register to vote, identify their nearest polling place, and inform them about the issues that they were going to see on the ballot.
And in November, thanks to our hard work, I was elected as the first Latina Congresswoman coming from the Midwest.
And even after the elections are over, I'm still putting in work. While I can't vote yet, I've been meeting with fellow newcomers, writing letters, and holding press conferences to urge Democrats to take action NOW, while we still hold the majority.
Sometimes I can't believe this is real, John. Before I pull out the tissues, I want you to know that I am beyond grateful for the time, energy, and support you and our friends and neighbors have put into me and my vision for Illinois. Now, all I can do is work my hardest for our future.
My team and I are trying to get a head start on making our communities better places to live, and that starts with meeting our End of Year Fundraising Goal before the deadline. Like I said, John, we only need $3,228 to reach our goal – can you help us? [[link removed]]
