Friend, in 2022, support from our generous donor community sent lifesaving medical humanitarian aid to people worldwide. Grassroots support is a key reason why we’re able to respond so quickly to crises, especially those buried in the headlines, wherever and whenever.
Here's the thing, Friend: in many parts of the world, people are facing compounding humanitarian crises—many of them unfolding in places that are the least equipped to respond.
Shifting weather patterns due to climate change are making extreme weather more frequent and devastating, and rising global temperatures are creating the perfect conditions for deadly diseases like cholera, malaria, and dengue fever to spread.
War and violence are fueling the largest global displacement crisis in modern history, forcing more than one million people around the world to flee their homes and severing access to lifesaving medical care for millions more.
Economic uncertainty is driving up the cost of essential goods like food, water, and shelter—especially in low- and middle-income countries—while making it more expensive for humanitarian aid groups to keep providing lifesaving care.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is on the ground in more than 70 countries actively tackling the issues listed above and more—from curbing the spread of deadly diseases by vaccinating as many people as possible to performing lifesaving surgery on the ground in a conflict.
The challenges we face in 2023 are numerous, but they are not insurmountable. What we know from over 50 years of doing this work is that we can overcome any obstacle when we all come together to put Aid First. I hope you will join us this year-end.
