2022 has been one for the history books. I don’t know about you, but after the difficult fights and hard-won victories of this year, I’m more fired up than ever to keep up our work in the coming years.
In a moment, I’m going to ask you to
make a contribution toward our important end-of-year FEC deadline – but first, I want to take a moment to reflect on this remarkable year.
In February, Democrats made history when President Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the first Black woman Supreme Court Justice.
I was proud to vote for Justice Jackson’s confirmation later in the year and make the bench of our nation’s highest court look more like America itself.
Just a few months later, the Supreme Court took a sledgehammer to the right to privacy when Republican Supreme Court nominees – many of whom told the Senate Judiciary Committee they believed
Roe v. Wade to be settled law – struck down abortion rights.
In the wake of that decision, my Democratic colleagues and I leaped into action, introducing legislation to secure health care privacy and personal data, defend access to contraception, and protect health care providers from prosecution.
I will continue fighting for every possible avenue to protect reproductive freedom both at home in Washington state and across the country.
In July and August, we celebrated major legislative victories. The first was the CHIPS and Science Act, legislation I led that invests in key manufacturing sectors, including semiconductor chip manufacturing, to
advance U.S. leadership in technology innovation. The second was the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, which makes
historic investments in climate action, inflation reduction, and affordable health care.
Finally, of course, we ended 2022 by
winning our fight to expand our Senate majority, successfully defending Patty Murray and other endangered Democrats, as well as flipping Pennsylvania’s seat with Senator-elect John Fetterman’s victory.
Our results speak for themselves: Americans know that who is in charge matters. Senate Democrats delivered on our promises again and again this year – and in the face of the Supreme Court undermining our fundamental rights and record numbers of MAGA candidates running for office, voters overwhelmingly supported our Democratic values.
Now, we’re about to report our first fundraising totals of the 2024 election cycle. Can you make a donation of $20 or more to support my fight to protect our values in Washington state and the Senate?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately.
Thank you for standing with me,
Maria
