John,
Next week, spineless Kevin McCarthy will attempt to convince an increasingly extremist Republican caucus in the U.S. House that he'll be their champion as Speaker of the House. The fight to support or oppose McCarthy is heating up, and has spawned a brand new feud between the GOP's foremost intellectual leaders: Lauren Boebert vs. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Boebert has been cagey about supporting McCarthy, while MTG has apparently made a calculated decision to back him. After Boebert publicly roasted MTG for her insane QAnon beliefs, MTG slammed Boebert for narrowly winning her reelection "by 500 votes."
This petty conflict between two of the absolute worst people in Congress foreshadows just how dysfunctional the House is going to be under Republican leadership for the next two years. But this unexpected fight does point toward a promising strategy for winning back the House in 2024: defeat Boebert and the rest of the extremists while forcing every "reasonable" Republican to account for her and MTG's abhorrent views.
