In a few moments, I’m going to ask if you can make an end-of-year contribution to the Working Families Party — because it would make a real difference to help hit their final goal of 2022 and fuel our shared fight in 2023. But first, I wanted to take a moment to talk about why grassroots donations are so important in our shared fight to keep delivering victories for working families.
According to almost all the pundits, 2022 was supposed to be a year of gloom and doom for Democrats. But then Americans got a chance to weigh in at the ballot box. And the message they sent was unmistakable.
Voters rejected that media narrative and fought back against extremist Republican attacks on abortion and democracy across the country. People-powered progressives defied the odds — winning local elections, city council seats, and school board seats. Democrats won key governors’ races, elected more unapologetic progressives to the House, and expanded our majority in the Senate. And we did it all in the face of a record amount of big money spending.
The Working Families Party was on the frontlines of this fight. And every grassroots contribution a supporter donated, every phone call a volunteer made, and every conversation shared with a voter ended up making a real difference — especially in razor-thin races.
Because of these efforts, so many progressive candidates endorsed by the Working Families Party were able to overcome powerful special interests and win their elections this year.
That includes new members who I’ll be very glad to welcome to Congress in January, from John Fetterman in the Senate to House Representatives like Summer Lee, Greg Casar, Delia Ramirez, Maxwell Frost, Becca Balint, and Jasmine Crockett. I'm also very happy that Rev. Raphael Warnock will stay in the Senate after winning his runoff earlier this month.
We’re going to need to continue this critical work over the next two years, because Republican extremists will try to hit working families with a wrecking ball from the House.
We didn’t back down when pundits predicted 2022 was going to be a massive “red wave.” And we aren’t about to give in to extremists in 2023. Instead, we need to keep on organizing: to resist Republican attacks, to advance our progressive agenda, and to elect even more unapologetic fighters for working families in the next election cycle.
That’s what the Working Families Party will be fighting for in 2023 and beyond, and it’s why I’m asking you:

The 2022 midterms showed us how to defeat Republican extremists. Instead of capitulating to them, we need to keep on fighting for working families — because when we come together to fight for working people, we win.
