Separation of Church and State! This is the drum beat for the Leftists in America right now.
Every day, I get bombarded on social media for having the audacity to engage in Civil affairs because I am the Pastor of Sheridan.Church in Tulsa, OK.
I am told that I cannot involve myself in the arena of politics simply because I am a Pastor.
Therefore, by the standard of the Left that would mean Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. should have stayed quiet on the issue of civil rights and equality in America because he was a preacher, and a large sum of his political speeches took place in... you guessed it = CHURCHES.
The hypocrisy of the Left is rooted in their ignorance of American history.
In 1504, Christopher Columbus said "I was led of the Holy Spirit to carry the message of the Gospel to undiscovered lands."
In the Mayflower Compact it is stated that they had come to America for "the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith."
The original thirteen colonies had charters that presented why they decided to form these new colonies.
The Virginia Charter states that the colony of Virginia was formed for the right of people to live in "Christian peace" and instruct the people to "Propagate the Christian religion to such people who yet live in ignorance of the true knowledge and worship of God."
The Delaware Charter states that the colony of Delaware was formed "To further propagate the Holy Gospel."
America was formed to be a Christian nation with a divine purpose.
There are roughly 250 Founding Fathers of the United States of America.
A Founding Father is an individual who had a substantial impact on the birth and establishment of America.
Of the 250 Founding Fathers about 95% were strong Christians. That means 5% were not.
Two of the least religious were Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.
It’s interesting that Franklin wanted the Bible taught in all schools in America. Even more interesting is that Jefferson as POTUS allowed a church to gather in the brand-new Capitol building in 1800. Not only that but Jefferson brought in the U.S. Military band to lead worship in the Capitol each Sunday.
But... Jefferson said, "Separation of Church and State"
Separation of Church and State is not about the Church staying out of the affairs of the State but rather the State staying out of the affairs of the Church.
This nation was built upon and flourished because of the Bible.
George Washington said, "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible."
John Adams said, "The destiny of America is to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to all men everywhere. We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus! I have examined all religions, and the result is that the Bible is the best book in the world."
Why is America the most successful country ever? Because America chose God!
To Make America Great Again we must first Make America Godly Again.
