[1]Alex Padilla for Senate

Hi, it's Alex.

First, I want to wish you and your family Happy Holidays, and best wishes for the New Year.

I’m immensely proud of what my team and I have been able to accomplish in 2022, and thanks to your support, I’m honored and humbled to keep working on behalf of all Californians for a full term.

This year, I’m especially grateful for the progress that we’ve made to build a stronger, more compassionate country, where more families have a shot at the American Dream.

So before we fully turn to the page to 2023, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on just a few highlights from 2022. Let’s get into it:

In March, we secured more than $250 million for 134 projects across California as part of the 2022 government funding bill. These projects will improve water quality and reliability, upgrade transportation infrastructure, and support community health care services.

Then, in April, as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I voted to confirm Justice Kentanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. During her hearing, I asked her what advice she has for young Americans, and I think her answer is inspiring. You can (and should!) watch it for yourself here. [link removed]

In June, I became the first Senator to join the United Farm Workers for a workday as part of their “Take Our Jobs” campaign. Shortly after, I introduced the Fairness for Farm Workers Act, which would update our labor laws to ensure farm workers receive fair wages and compensation for their difficult and essential work.

Later that same month, I voted to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the first major gun safety legislation in almost 30 years. It improves background checks, provides new avenues for states to implement red flag laws, and includes large investments in community-based mental health services.

In August, I voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act — a landmark piece of climate legislation that invests $369 billion in clean energy, environmental justice and programs to combat climate change. It also reduces prescription drug and health care costs, and is funded by requiring the largest, most profitable corporations to finally pay their fair share in taxes.

And just a few days before Christmas, President Biden signed my FIRE Act into law. This strengthens FEMA’s ability to deal with and, crucially, prepare in advance for wildfires the same way they do hurricanes and other natural disasters.

We were able to accomplish so much together this year, and that’s just our work in the Senate. Together, we also won a full term serving California and helped raise money for Democrats in tough Senate races across the country to expand our majority, including helping push Senator Warnock over the finish line in Georgia.

So thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! It truly means the world to me to have your support as we keep up the fight for California’s families.

- Sen. Alex Padilla

Alex Padilla is the first Latino ever elected to the U.S. Senate from California. Now, he’s fighting every day to reform our broken immigration system, protect our planet from climate change, and guarantee health care as a human right for ALL Americans. So with our end-of-year deadline just days away, we have to ask:

Can you please make a contribution — of any amount you can afford — to help us keep working for California? Our campaign is powered by grassroots supporters like you, so every donation means a lot.
