Friend,
Numbers are powerful in our Jewish tradition: multiples of 18, or
chai, symbolize life, Shabbat falls on the seventh day of the
week, and every seven years we mark the shmita year.
Here at Bend the Arc, we have a tradition of sharing numbers that
show the impact of what we did together this year. Scroll down to
see!
Project
Shamash, Bend the Arc’s racial equity and leadership initiative based
in the Bay Area, organized 9
community-building events for Jews of Color.
We
partnered with 16 organizations
across the country this election season to build enduring power and
win more change.
Bend the
Arc leaders helped flip and defend 44 seats in the midterms.
53 young Jewish leaders completed the
Jeremiah Fellowship with organizing skills to take back to their
communities.
Bend the
Arc chapters organized all year to pass statewide legislation that
dismantles white supremacy — like AB 256 in California, which allows incarcerated people
to address racism and discrimination in their cases.
Over
1,000 people joined Bend the
Arc’s movement-wide educational calls in 2023.
Bend the
Arc’s PAC raised more than $500,000 for candidates in key midterm election
races.
Alongside
our partners in the Defund Hate coalition, we won a new $800 million grant for life-saving
services for newly-arrived migrants.
These numbers show the real change we created together this year.
We have even more planned for 2023, Friend, and we need you with us in
this fight.
The funds we raise now will help us grow and
nourish our movement, build power in
communities around the country and in the halls of power,
train the next generation of Jewish leaders, and
hold accountable leaders we helped elect.
With gratitude,
The Bend the Arc team ❤️
