Sign the petition urging Pete Buttigieg to embrace the climate solutions we need

John,

Record fires in Australia. A massive oil spill in Brazil. The threat of a new oil war with Iran. These are the realities we’re facing just two weeks into 2020 — an escalating climate crisis, a government beholden to Big Oil’s bidding, and less time to stop it all than ever before.

With the stakes so high, it’s imperative for the candidates in this year’s election to demonstrate their leadership with climate plans that meet the scale of the crisis. But Pete Buttigieg’s plans don’t make the cut. He hasn’t committed to end fracking or stop all new fossil fuel projects, and his plans for energy transition would leave us burning fossil fuels until 2050.

We can’t entertain mediocre climate plans while the crisis escalates around us. Tell Buttigieg to step it up and offer climate solutions that match the scale of the crisis.

We’re calling on Buttigieg to do the following:

Regardless of how you feel about Buttigieg, we all benefit from holding candidates to a higher standard. By demonstrating that voters won’t accept mediocre policies, we put pressure on every candidate to do better. The end result for all of us is a stronger climate platform in the election — no matter who wins the primary.

Let’s hold Buttigieg to a higher standard, and raise the stakes for climate policy in this election. Click here to tell Buttigieg it’s time to step up his climate plans.

Forward,

Clarissa

PS - Buttigieg isn’t the only one whose climate plans need work. Vice President Joe Biden’s climate plans also fall short. Sign the petition urging Biden to show real climate leadership here.
