John,
Time is running out to bring warmth, shelter and vital health services to Ukrainians as temperatures plummet. Families are living in damaged homes and struggling to access heat and electricity. We're in a race against the clock before winter costs more lives.
We urgently need more funds to reach Ukrainians with the assistance they need — blankets, sleeping bags, stoves, heaters and fuel — to minimize the humanitarian crisis this winter.
For displaced people living in Ukraine and crisis zones around the world, their situation will be dire if assistance doesn't arrive soon. Because this is so important, all gifts made will be MATCHED, doubling your impact for people in need.
As temperatures continue to plummet well below freezing, the IRC is scaling up our efforts to meet the needs of Ukrainians this winter.
In areas close to the frontlines, we are providing shelter materials like PVC and plywood to seal holes in roofs, walls and windows. In areas where businesses still operate, we are continuing our cash distribution program to help families buy the supplies they need to survive the winter.
We asked the IRC's country director Marysia Zapasnik to share why our emergency winter response in Ukraine is so important:
"With no power source, and with damage to their shelter, surviving the winter will be incredibly difficult for a large number of people," she said. "It could also result in a dramatic increase in the number of people displaced, as they move to other parts of the country in search of warmth."
Your gift will power our work on the ground in Ukraine and other crisis zones worldwide. It will allow us to distribute even more blankets, sleeping bags, stoves, heaters and fuel and shelter materials to help seal holes in roofs, walls, and windows to offset the cold.
Can you help us meet our goal by making a gift before our 2X-match deadline?
We're so grateful for your support and compassion for people in crisis this winter. I hope you'll take advantage of this opportunity to help us reach as many people as possible before it's too late.
